BIOL 451 or CHEM 451 (Senior Undergraduate Research) may be used to satisfy the BIOL 410 or CHEM 410 requirement. Successful completion of the honors research experience (HP 470 and HP 471, 4 credits) may be used to satisfy the BIOL 410 or CHEM 410 requirement.
No minor in biochemistry is available. Biochemistry majors may not minor in either chemistry or biology. Exceptional students may double major in biochemistry and either biology or chemistry by taking all the courses required of both majors. To complete the double major in four years, students generally need Advanced Placement, summer school or overload credits.
To receive a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours. Students must also earn a major GPA of 2.0, and a cumulative GPA of 2.0.
Global Encounters courses are offered in many departments, including Business, Communication, English, Education, Foreign Language, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology and Theology.
The Ethical Leadership Experiential Learning Core Requirement invites students to integrate their own personal call to leadership with a mature reflection on one or more of the core virtues of Justice, Courage, Integrity, and Humility. Students will accomplish this by engaging in and reflecting upon the practice of virtue ethics within the context of one or more experiential learning activities.
Completion of a minor in Foreign Language may require summer course work. ~Students testing into language at the 201 level or higher will take only one semester.
