The content is designed to prepare accounting majors to work effectively in a broad range of organizational positions requiring specialization in accounting. All of the courses that are required to permit interested accounting majors to sit for the CPA examination are offered.
The Business Program
The business major provides students the opportunity to broaden their understanding of the contemporary business world and principles of effective management. Required courses encompass management, marketing, finance, accounting, law, information systems and quantitative decision making. Capstone courses in corporate social responsibility and business policy build leadership and decision-making skills as well as develop concerns for ethics, justice, and social responsibility.
The Economics Program
The economics major addresses the economic complexities of modern societies to help students develop an understanding and appreciation of approaches to solving economic problems.
The Entrepreneurship Program
The entrepreneurship major exposes students to both new business development and innovation. Students take core business courses as well as courses like design thinking (for idea creation and problem solving), financial management for entrepreneurs and business plan design and delivery. Each student is also required to participate in a practicum where they work directly with a local entrepreneur. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to work on new product or service development within an organization or take on the challenges of starting a new business.
