To earn a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with Dual Certification, students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours. Students must also earn a major GPA of 2.0, and a cumulative GPA of 2.75.

 

The elementary/special education program leads to certification in elementary grades 1-6 and generic special education grades 1-8. This Maryland Approved Program meets certification requirements in other states. Students are advised, however, to consult certification requirements in states of interest early in their study. 

Because of the specific sequence of course offerings in the program, it is necessary for students to start education courses in the freshman year, or at the latest, at the beginning of the sophomore year. Students starting education courses after that time may not be able to graduate with their class as an elementary education major.

Optional Certifications:Art Certification (P-12)  or   World Languages Certification (P-12)
