More information about the Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Human Services

This Cyber Criminology minor is an interdisciplinary offering of the Department of Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Human Services, but the courses listed are open to all students.  Criminology is the study of the measurement, etiology, consequences, prevention, control, and treatment of crime and delinquency (ASC, 2018). Cyber Criminology is an emerging sub discipline that focuses on the crimes that occur in cyberspace.  This minor will also examine types of offenders, theoretical explanations, and the reaction of the criminal justice system to cybercrimes. The new minor differs from the existing programs in Cybersecurity and Criminology/Criminal Justice in that those programs have more specific foci: programming, software, and networks in Cybersecurity, and prevention, control, and treatment of crime and criminals in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
