EDGE 343 - Globalization and Education

Students will examine the impact of immigration on children’s and adolescents’ cognitive, emotional, and linguistic development in their countries of origin and receiving communities. Students will reflect on the effects of globalization on U.S. educational policies and teacher-student relations in classrooms through the lenses of global consciousness and social justice in Catholic social teaching. Students will critique current educational developments in the United States abroad with the lens of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Students will develop approaches to multicultural education for educating our diverse youth and integrating families. This course satisfies the Global Encounters core requirement.
