HSRV 307 - The Developing Child

This course will explore the effects of parenting styles, cultural and family dynamics, generational trends, and community resources on the growth and development of children in the United States. Students will learn how children and families access resources and training to support their traditional and alternative needs. Healthy child development requires the sustained efforts and combined resources of nurturing caregivers and community supports. Drawing on insights from various academic perspectives and theories, the needs of the developing child will be examined and discussed in candid and practical terms. This course is useful for parents, those who wish to become parents, and all others who have an interest in healthy child development. Prerequisite(s): HSRV 200 or instructor permission Yes
