HIST 252 - African American Oral History Credits: (3) Students in this interdisciplinary, service-learning course will learn to conduct oral history interviews with Frederick’s Historic Preservation Planner. These interviews will become part of “The African American Historic Context Study of Frederick County” and will focus on the 18th century through the early 1970s and the formation and development of the county’s African American communities. The study will identify and research historic and cultural themes to create a more comprehensive picture of the African American experience in Frederick County. This course is open to all students interested in local and African American history, conducting interviews, and using digital audio-visual technologies to record and process the interviews
