BUS 393 - Gender in Business

Credits: (3)
This course is a research driven experience that helps students understand gender inequity in the business world and transform the way they lead. Students will explore scholarly research regarding gender as a social construction, gender inequality at work, and the history of women and work to describe the challenges women face in business as they advance to leadership. The class will discuss how both men and women can recognize when there is a gender dimension at work, how women can best navigate the challenges they face in the workplace, and how all leaders can move past gender bias and facilitate women’s success and achieve better organizational results. Throughout the course, students will interact with successful business leaders (both women and men) who will speak to the class about their experiences overcoming obstacles, seizing opportunities, and promoting gender equity in the workplace.
