HINW 301 - Viewing America’s Landscapes

Credits: (3)
This course is both a U.S. history course and an environmental history course, and while it includes use of a traditional textbook and instructor-led lectures and discussions, it emphasizes the viewing of America’s landscapes through the writing, painting, and film-making of three centuries of Americans.  It is not a course about the interaction of nature and history, instead it focuses on how Americans have viewed, and changed their views of, the interaction of nature and history.
