BUS 394 - Business of the Nonprofit Sector

Credits: (3)
Have you ever volunteered for a nonprofit? Raised money for a worthy cause? Dreamed of a career as a nonprofit professional or of serving on the board of a charity? If so, this course is for you. Together, we explore the scope, structure, and dynamics of the private not-for-profit sector in the U.S. and around the globe from a business perspective. Students will be grounded in key theories and trends related to a range of tax-exempt activities such as environmental stewardship, health care, human services, animal rights, advocacy, and disaster relief. We will investigate how the three sectors of economy (i.e., business, government, and nonprofit) come together for a shared purpose. Don’t be misled by the word “nonprofit” because this sector is as lucrative as any other! Prerequisite(s): Junior or Senior Level Status
