This course studies key figures of twentieth and twenty-first century Irish writing (W.B. Yeats, James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Edna O’Brien, Seamus Heaney, Anna Burns, and others) in the context of British colonial rule, sectarian conflict, social change, exile, and globalization. This course satisfies the British and European Literature requirement in the English major.
