ENGL 349 - Literature, Faith, & Secularization

This course will examine the tension and interplay between secular and religious world views and how that interchange plays out in literature, focusing primarily on Kate Chopin, Flannery O’Connor, and Toni Morrison, but also placing their work alongside figures like Darwin, Freud, Jung, and Charles Taylor. This course satisfies the American Literature requirement in the English major.
