ENGL 332 - American Literature, 1865-1915

Credits: (3)
Ernest Hemingway said modern American literature begins with Huckleberry Finn, published in 1884. This course examines that period in which American literature “begins”, dissecting the works of Twain, Dickenson, Crane, London, among others, while also discussing the rise of realism and naturalism. This course satisfies the American Literature requirement in the English major.
