Program Requirements
The elementary/special education program requires a major in elementary education and concentration in special education. The program closely follows the requirements and sequence of the elementary education major, including the core curriculum and the internship requirements. In addition to a modified dual internship, students must take the following classes to attain special education certification:

Some of these courses require full-day field experiences.
Additions to Mount Core
Education programs require coursework that provides depth and breadth of knowledge needed for successful elementary education teachers. Therefore, education majors will be expected to take courses in addition to the University core courses.
