An exploration of the meaning of human rights, the rights that all people have by virtue of their humanity, within an era of globalism in which ideological and cultural definitions of rights are frequently at odds with one another, in which questions of sovereignty are increasingly at issue, and in which environmental issues such as overpopulation, pollution and scarcity of resources have been moved onto human rights agendas.
