THEOL 336 - Catholic Social Teaching Credits: (3) Catholic social teaching is a body of doctrines and texts pertaining to social, economic, and political life. The course offers an examination of modern Catholic social thought on questions such as labor and capital, poverty, human rights, war and peace, international development, and other issues. The course considers questions about the right ordering of society and the implications of discipleship in modern social and political life. It draws on sources from scripture, documents of the Catholic Church, and the works of classical and contemporary theologians, as well as on the practice of organizations such as Catholic Relief Services.
