This program is designed for certified teachers holding a master’s degree and seeking a program leading to a reading specialist certificate, K-12.

Prerequisite Coursework (12 Credits)
For elementary certified teachers (the following courses or their equivalent as determined by the program director):

* All courses can be completed in the evenings except MEDUC 605 - Literacy Specialist Practicum . The practicum requires 90 hours of on-site experiences that can only be completed during the day (fee applies).
Changing to Degree Status
If a student wishes to change from a certificate only program to a degree program, he/she must submit a Change of Program Request Form.
A maximum of 24 credits from the certificate of advanced study in Reading may apply to the Reading (Grade K-12), M.Ed. program.
Deadline: Students must submit a Change of Program Request Form to their program director before completing the requirements for the certificate.
