Certification is offered through the Division of Religious Education, Archdiocese of Baltimore, in conformity with Faith Lived-Faith Shared: Regulations for the Formation and Certification of Catechists, Archdiocese of Baltimore (2001).

• THEOL 220 - Belief in Today’s World Credits: (3)
• THEOL 320 - Encountering Christ Credits: (3)

• THEOL 327 - Synoptic Gospels Credits: (3)

• or

• THEOL 420 - Old Testament Survey Credits: (3)

• or

• THEOL 421 - New Testament Survey Credits: (3)

• THEOL 324 - Sacraments Credits: (3)
• THEOL 435 - Foundations of Religious Education Credits: (3)
• THEOL 434 - Christian Spirituality Credits: (3)
• THEOL 480 - Internship Credits: (1-3)

• (for those without pastoral experience)

• EDUC 208 - Learning Theory and Human Development Credits: (4)

• PSCI 207 - International Relations Credits: (3)

• (for those with pastoral experience)

Note:

These courses would fulfill the following areas of growth, according to the guidelines of the Baltimore Archdiocese: Area A: The Catechist as a Person of Faith (3 credits); Area B: Understanding the Person Being Catechized (2 or 3 credits); Area C: Context and Process of Catechesis (3 or 4 credits); Area D: Message or Content of Catechesis (9 credits).
