A Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business Bachelor’s to Master’s Dual Degree Program is available for qualified accounting, business administration, economics, entrepreneurship, and sport management students who are interested in earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. With this Program, students may be eligible to save on tuition for up to three graduate courses (9 credits). Where appropriate, graduate courses taken while an undergraduate may substitute as electives for courses required in the undergraduate major program. Individual study courses, internships, or courses given as credit by examination are not eligible. The credits to be double counted will be designated as applicable to the graduate program of study after the student receives the bachelor’s degree and matriculates in the Graduate School.

Students must apply for admission to the Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business MBA or MSSM graduate programs and to the Bachelor’s to Master’s Dual Degree Program during the first semester of year three. Admitted students may begin taking graduate-level courses during their second semester of year three and year four. Richard J. Bolte, Sr. School of Business Dual Degree

The Mount’s business dual degree program provides the skills needed to advance your career and gain an edge in your field of study.

A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for a Bachelor of Science in Business, followed by 36 credits for the Master of Business Administration or Master of Science in Sport Management.

Students earning 120 credit hours in a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or Sport Management may also apply to the Dual Degree program.

The Dual Degree Program in Business is designed for students interested in advancing their career and gaining an edge in a field of study.

The dual degree program provides a 4+1 pathway to earning a B.S. in accounting, business, economics, entrepreneurship, or sport management, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree preparing you to apply your skills in the business world in the areas of accounting, finance, human resources, international business, management, marketing, sales, sport management, and more.

There are two phases to the Dual Degree program:

Phase I:  Students pursing the dual degree pathway will enroll at the MSMU Emmitsburg (main) campus to pursue their BS degree in business or one of the other business pathways, accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, or sport management.  Completion of the BS degree requires a minimum of 120 credits and fulfilling the requirements of the both the core curriculum and major.

Accounting, B.S.

Business, B.S.

Economics, B.S.

Entrepreneurship, B.S.

Sport Management, B.S.

In addition, students will use their B.S. degree electives to take pre-requisites for MBA courses, if not already part of the major: ACCT 101 Accounting Principles I (3) ACCT 102 Accounting Principles II (3) , ECON 101 Foundations of Economics: Macroeconomics (3) , ECON 102 Foundations of Economics: Microeconomics (3) , BUS 320 Statistics (3) , and BUS 360 Corporate Finance I (3) . Pre-requisites are not requirements for acceptance in the MBA program, but the pre-requisites listed (or equivalents) are needed to take specific courses needed to earn the MBA degree.

Students will apply for acceptance into the dual degree program during the fall semester of year three and begin phase II by transitioning into the MBA program during the second semester of year three and continuing in year four.

Phase II:  During the second half of year three or at the start of year four, students will complete major requirements for the BS and begin course work in the Master’s program.  Our flexible course format allows students on the main campus to attend graduate classes, held on our Emmitsburg or Frederick campuses, either in person, via web conferencing, or online.   Students begin taking only graduate courses in the summer between years four and five with all graduate course work offered either in person at our Emmitsburg or Frederick campuses, via web conferencing, or online.
