MEDUC 602 - Teaching Literacy to Linguistically Diverse Learners Credits: (3) This course emphasizes the prevention of and intervention for reading difficulties in emergent and early readers, including the appropriate placement, program planning, and ongoing assessment of linguistically diverse learners. The course advocates a literacy program of graphophonics, semantics and syntactics in teaching reading and writing. Classes will consist of student-facilitated discussion of common texts, public sharing of self-selected texts, journal writing, guest speakers, videos, web searches, and academic writing.
