COMM 361 - Gender and Indigenous Identities

This advanced course offers an exploration of gender, gender identities, and its intersection with mainstream as well as indigenous communities in Argentina. Drawing from interdisciplinary perspectives, students will critically analyze the nuanced aspects of gender-related issues within the context of Argentina’s cultural and socio-political climate. Students will explore historical and contemporary gender norms and stereotypes, the impact of gendered hegemonic structures on society, and the influence of heteronormativity on present-day Argentina. This course will also examine the impact of gender-related issues on politics in South America, focusing on Argentina’s policies and activism related to gender equality and indigenous rights
