PSCI 238 - Religion and the First Amendment

This course is designed for second year students and is open to non-majors. This course explores the role religion and religious values have played in the American political discourse from our founding to the present day; the origins and different interpretations of the “wall of separation” between Church and State; and Supreme Court cases interpreting both the “establishment” and “free exercise” clauses of the First Amendment.
