Career Center Services

The Career Center builds opportunities for students and alumni to take an active role in their career development through career and graduate school counseling, educational programming, such as internships, and employer services. Our mission is to assist every Mount student, past and present, with the task of articulating their journey to become ethical leaders who live significantly.

The Career Center offers a comprehensive program to assist students and alumni in addressing career concerns and options to be successful in today’s global economy. Services include, but are not limited to, career counseling, self-assessment inventories, assistance with cover letters and résumés, interview preparation, on-campus interviews, job fairs, networking opportunities, graduate  school search strategies and other job search strategies.

Additionally, organizations and graduate/professional schools are increasingly requiring candidates to have relevant experiences. With this in mind, the Career Center assists students in discerning their vocation and gaining practical experience to complement their educational pursuits by managing internships and other experiential education opportunities in local, regional, national and international locations.  Internships are highly recommended throughout all majors and are centralized through the Career Center.

Frederick students can call for an appointment. We meet in person, on skype or zoom or by phone.

The Career Center strives to support all Mount students and alumni through the transition from academic learning to their lives as productive, responsible citizens. The Career Center also hosts numerous events and workshops throughout the semester. Please see www.msmary.edu/career for more information.

Career Center and Graduate/Professional School Preparation

The University offers various programs of study in the liberal arts and sciences leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science. These courses have been designed to offer an excellent liberal education, to prepare students for careers in the professional or business worlds, and to enable them to gain admission to professional or graduate schools. The MSMU Career Center works in tandem with the Schools to provide support to students who are applying to graduate school through search strategies, resumes and mock interviewing.
